Northern California Institute of Golf

Meet Alex Culp, Program Manager for the Northern California Institute of Golf, which is the teaching wing of a larger golf management company called Molten Golf. They are based at Haggin Oaks Golf Course in Sacramento, California. Three years ago, they started looking to update the system that they had in place. “The system that we had in place was very dysfunctional,” explains Alex, “it wasn’t regularly updated, it felt like they weren’t interested in creating an easier app or web system.” This is what ultimately led to the search for a new system.

Probably 2% of my customers were able to book lessons online. I had to do a lot of work on the back end to make it work for me.

“It essentially came to the point where only I could do it.” Alex continues. “None of my staff members could help because it was difficult, and I wasn’t comfortable with that.” After almost 15 years of sticking with this system, Alex felt like the moment to switch had finally come. “Golf really exploded after COVID. With that, there was a change in golf customers, a change in who wanted to golf.” During COVID, a young demographic started playing golf, and with this demographic came demand for an easy online booking system. “We needed to switch to provide a better service to the younger students; playing phone tag with people, in this day and age, is not the way
to go”

The crucial thing was being compatible-ready, so I could turn it online, take payments, and process information more quickly. It needed to work with the whole company.

“My IT department was the one that found ProAgenda and recommended it,” Alex explains about his search for a new system, “They recommended that I take a meeting with Jordy, since you work with Lightspeed and Stripe, which we were familiar with.” ProAgenda immediately ticked many of their boxes thanks to the integration options and compatibility with their original setup. Alex booked a meeting to gather more information about the software to explore all the options: “All our meetings were informative. Jordy was great at getting back to our questions, and we had a lot of them. We felt good about the partnership afterward”

“We had a lot of work because we are a very big company, we had a lot of data, customers, and old lesson series and credits that needed to move into the ProAgenda. The set-up process took some time, but that was more on us.” Alex continues. The staff did, however, catch on quickly, and within a week, everything was set up, and they were already getting comfortable. “They were quick to get familiar with the operating system and got up to speed really, really quickly.”

“30 people are using the system on a day-to-day basis, and then a staff of nine work, and they picked it up great. I have not had one complaint from anyone, which is very positive!”

Alex goes on saying they are very happy with the way ProAgenda handles questions and feedback. Even though there are always things they would like to add, they feel heard and are happy with the updates being released. “I think that was a breakthrough for our staff to feel like their feedback is being heard. So that is positive to hear, listening to our challenges and quickly helping with the fixes.” That makes Alex feel much better about the partnership: “knowing that you guys are committed to continuing to improve your product, listening to your clients, and even to your larger clients, I’m just thrilled with the fact that you make marginal improvements and that you care”
